July Blog Hop..... Pets.

Welcome to our Pet Blog Hop.  If you have come from Kerry's wonderful Blog then you are on the correct Blog Hop.

So who has any pets?? Have you taken many photos of them? Some of them can be very tricky to take photos of, especially if they move very fast!  In our house we have 2 rabbits and one cat. (and 2 children, do they count as pets?) Our rabbits, Summer and Star, enjoy the back of our garage and I think our cat, Scamp, just tolerates us in his house!  We found one photo of Scamp from this year, so thought it was time to send my children on the secret mission to take photos of our pets. Then I was delighted as Caitlin wanted to help me create the pages for each of them.

It's a Cats Life Page.

We started with some ideas from Pinterest and then pulled out the Magical paper pack. With the idea in our heads it was a matter of choosing which papers to go where.

While I was sorting out the papers, Caitlin was busy with the alphabet stamp for our title.

Then she stamped the cat from Friendly Pets stamp set and used the water colour pencils to colour it in. What a great job Caitlin did.

As we were sorting the papers we decided to add some black shimmer trim. An easy way to cut the width in half is to cut
your length, then peel a tiny part of each end to allow it to stick to your 12" trimmer. Then all you need to do is gently cut it. As long as it is stuck in the middle then you will have two even pieces.

For the dove tail, I cut a piece in the middle, then cut from each corner into the tip of the middle cut.

The page was progressing well but it need something to make the title pop out a little. So we tried a couple of different colours and found the yellow worked really nicely.

At the bottom you will be able to see the finished page, which just needs the journalling added to it.

Pets page.

If we have done a page for our rather large cat, we also needed to do a page for our rabbits. Something slightly different but using the same Magical paper packet. This page came together so easily. Which was good as I had to do it mainly on my own!! Chose strips, then gave them a long dove tail.

Next I needed to add a block for the photos and journalling to go on. I really love how the paper packets all have a zip strip on the patterned papers, which tell you what colours go with the paper packet. Too easy to choose Sapphire, to help it stand out. Next Caitlin was back to help stamp out the title "PETS" with the alphabet stamp set. And then I decided to use one of the Picture My Life pieces to balance the page. We decided it just need the LOVE part so I just tried off the part we did not need. Too easy.

Added a little bit of twine to help divide where the pictures from the journal and here is the finished page.

Both of these pages have used the same paper pack, just different papers and different layouts. But the look so different which is what I love.

And here are the pages with photos on them. Both of my children really love these pages and so do I. Can you notice which are the new products coming in August?

Did you notice what I have not done to the pages yet?

Yes the journalling. I do promise to have that done by the time you see them on my wall next week!

I do hope you will hop on over to Alison's page!
